Men and women can suffer from pelvic floor weakness.

Emsella is great for women and men of any age who suffer from bladder leaks (stress, urge and mixed incontinence), frequency, urgency, night waking, prolapse, bowel incontinence, and sexual dysfunction.

Men who have undergone pelvic surgery, such as prostatectomy, are good candidates. Emsella is also great for men who have erectile dysfunction caused by compromised blood flow.

Emsella does not treat incontinence caused by tight pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.

Emsella chair treatments do not hurt. You will feel absolutely no pain. You will experience a tingling feeling and feel all your pelvic floor muscles contracting.

Emsella is a walk-in, walk-out treatment. There is no downtime, and you can resume your daily activities immediately after your chair session.

Improvements occur gradually with each Emsella chair session. Some people will begin to notice improvement after a few sessions. Typically, optimal results are seen 6 weeks after your last treatment.

Your results will last for many months. Similar to any other muscle, you must maintain your pelvic floor muscle fitness. To maintain your gains and keep your pelvic muscles strong, it’s recommended to do a single Emsella chair session every 4-6 months. The frequency of maintenance sessions can vary from person to person, and you will learn what is right for you.

You cannot use Emsella if you have:

• Metal implants (eg. metal hip replacements, copper IUD).

• Cardiac pacemakers

• Electric implants

• Implanted defibrillators, implanted neurostimulators

• Pulmonary insufficiency

• Drug pumps

• Malignant tumours

• Recent surgical procedures

• Any neck or spine surgery

• Hemorrhagic conditions

• Anticoagulation therapy

• Epilepsy

• Pregnancy

Rarely, a patient may experience local redness and swelling, temporary muscle pain, muscle spasms, or temporary joint or tendon pain after treatment.

OHIP does not cover Emsella treatment. However, you may claim Emsella as a medical expense on your income tax return.

Emsella treatment is eligible for coverage by some types of private insurance. As insurance plans are all unique, you are responsible for determining your specific coverage. During your free consultation, we can give some guidance and documentation for you to provide your insurance company.

Please note we do not bill insurance companies directly. We provide you with documentation for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

To see the Urologist for urological services covered under OHIP, new patients must have a referral made by a Physician practicing in Ontario. We are unable to accept new patients on a walk-in basis.

If you are an existing patient, please call the office to schedule an appointment. Note: If it has been over two years since your last appointment with the Urologist, a new referral will be required before an appointment can be scheduled.

As OHIP does not cover Emsella, a referral is not required to access Emsella chair treatments.
